How does the Lounge work? What are the rules?

What is it?
The Lounge is a platform for App.Cat users to communicate with the inventors, designers, coders, and administrative personnel of App.Cat in a public, civilized manner. It's "support" on steroids.
Its primary role is pier learning; Experienced users lending a hand to novices. Secondly it serves as a user generated, searchable Knowledge Base. This allows autodidacts and tutoring-focussed learners alike to find answers quickly and by the means most comfortable for them.

How is it structured?
There are categories (Bugs, How to sell, Design, etc.). Inside those there are discussions (threads), each covering a different aspect relating to aforementioned category. The categories were created by App.Cat. The discussions were created by users.

How do I search?
Find the category in which your question fits, then select the most relevant discussion. This kind of excursion discovery might take longer but is more pleasurable to many because of its power to discover many more topics and inspirations on the way.

How do I ask a question?
Find the category in which your question fits, then select the most relevant discussion. If your question isn't yet covered create a new discussion. If an existing discussion hasn't fully answered your question, type a comment at the end of it. It'll go into a moderation cue and if deemed appropriate show up later so that others can comment on it. Your post or discussion will be rejected if it doesn't adhere to the rules.

The Lounge has a zero tolerance for profanity, abusive behavior, spam, and self entitlement. Eloquent, educated, and valuable posts get pushed to the top. Readers can up-vote posts and award tokens and prizes to good comments. They can also report inappropriate content.
Contributors (Lounge members) with a good track record receive advanced posting rights, such as bypassing the moderation cue. Violators get warned and/or banned and/or their account suspended. App.Cat staff and accredited members supervise and structure the flow of comments and topics so as to guarantee a productive learning environment.

1) Abusive behavior: If you're a troll or are becoming one we cut you off and suspend your account.
2) Double posting: Posting the same question in multiple places, messaging it to multiple users, or any combination thereof.
3) Spoon feeding: Typing instead of reading. Lazily disregarding that your question already is answered.
4) Thread hijacking: Posting unrelated content to the thread's topic.
5) Extortion by Libelous Slander: Posting negative reviews elsewhere to force rule-exempt treatment. For example tweeting "...there's no support" in hopes App.Cat would reach out directly, thus breaking rule 3) and 6), thus punishing all rule abiding members who contribute and respect this ecosphere.
6) Self-Entitlement: Every social construct has its rules to benefit the entirety. The Lounge is no exception. You're exactly as special as every other person making and using App.Cat.
7) Incomplete info: "It doesn't work" is unacceptable. Report in detail what you experience and how that's different from what you assumed.

Private Messages
You can communicate with others and the team by direct message. Those messages are invisible to the public. Click a user's name, then choose "send message". This is advisable in cases that involve sensitive information such as passwords or billing- or payment details. Private messages need to adhere to the forum rules and are not a substitute for publicly posting. Abusing PMs for any forbidden action results in banning and account suspension. You have an in-box where all your PM replies appear. It's linked in the top bar.

For security reasons -and to provide transparency to non customers- this forum does not use your App.Cat login. Log in using your previous Lounge password or a Social Network ID here. You can adorn your profile with a picture, status, and "about", but you don't have to. The reason you need to login is so you can see new and hidden posts, create posts/discussions, send Private Messages, and see Mentions. If the system doesn't know who you are it can't show you relevant info. So: Log in.

Rewards and Badges
Other users can reward competent posts and prolific members by clicking any of the available tokens below a post. The system itself awards good users badges based on contribution, civility, and relevance.

Warning and Banning
Staff and authorized members can issue warnings on a gravity level of 1 through 5. Each level carries different consequences such as temporary inability to post or outright banning. Banning removes your ability to login and interact on the Lounge. It's a last resort for heavy rule breakers and ensures removal of toxic entities. In some cases a Lounge ban may also enforce a software suspension, meaning the infringer can no longer use his App.Cat Software and his apps disappear on everyone's smartphone.
